Flexible, practical support for parents, teenagers, and families—online or in your Edmonton-area home.
Every family is different. Some situations are best addressed through parent consultation, some through individual work with a teenager, and some by bringing everyone together. We will choose the format that offers the best chance of meaningful, sustainable change.
Ways we can work together
Parent consultation and coaching
Parent sessions offer a confidential, non-judgmental place to step back from the immediate conflict, understand what may be driving your teenager’s behaviour, and develop responses that fit your values and household.
- Reducing arguments and power struggles
- Creating clear, realistic, and consistent boundaries
- Responding to emotional outbursts and shutdown
- Repairing connection after conflict
- Technology, gaming, routines, and school-related concerns
- ADHD-, autism-, and executive-function-informed strategies
- Supporting a teenager without over-functioning for them
Teen coaching and skill development
Teen sessions are respectful, collaborative, and practical. Young people are not treated as the identified problem. We build on their interests and strengths while developing skills that help them navigate family life, school, friendships, stress, and growing independence.
- Emotional awareness and self-regulation
- Communication and conflict skills
- Motivation, organization, and follow-through
- Identity, confidence, and personal values
- Problem-solving and decision-making
- Healthy technology habits
- Preparing for greater independence
Parent–teen relationship sessions
Joint sessions help each person speak and be heard without allowing the conversation to become another argument. Chris facilitates a structured process for identifying the cycle, clarifying needs, repairing hurts, and creating agreements everyone can understand.
Family behaviour roadmap
For families who want a focused starting point, the process can include an initial parent meeting, input from the teenager, identification of patterns and strengths, and a written roadmap with practical strategies and next steps. The format is tailored to the family rather than forcing everyone into the same program.
Common reasons families reach out
- “Every conversation turns into an argument.”
- “My teenager will not talk to me anymore.”
- “Consequences and rewards are not working.”
- “We cannot agree about screens, gaming, school, or curfew.”
- “My teen becomes overwhelmed, explodes, or completely shuts down.”
- “ADHD or autism is affecting daily family life.”
- “We love each other, but our home feels tense all the time.”

Meeting options
Online: Secure video consultations for families in Alberta.
In-home: Edmonton-area appointments, subject to availability and travel boundaries confirmed during the initial call.
Working respectfully with teenagers
Teenagers need both appropriate parental involvement and a meaningful degree of privacy. Before individual teen meetings begin, we will clearly discuss consent, confidentiality, what general information may be shared with parents, and the circumstances in which safety concerns must be disclosed. No one should have to guess about the boundaries.
Fees
Fees and package options are discussed during the free consultation. Kindred consulting and coaching services are not currently psychological services and are generally not eligible for reimbursement under extended-health psychology benefits.
Current scope and limits
Kindred currently provides non-clinical behaviour and relationship consulting, coaching, education, and family support. Services do not include psychotherapy, psychological assessment, diagnosis, custody evaluation, or crisis response. When a family’s needs fall outside this scope, Chris will be transparent and help identify an appropriate regulated or specialized service. Counselling will be added only after suitable professional registration, insurance, and supervision are established.
Kindred is not an emergency or crisis service. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. In Canada, call or text 988 for suicide-crisis support.
