Clear expectations matter. Here is what families can expect before deciding whether to work with Kindred.
Fees
Free consultation — no charge
The first 30-minute phone or video conversation is free. It is an opportunity to describe the immediate concern, ask questions, understand Kindred’s scope, and decide whether the service appears suitable.
Paid consultations
Kindred is currently finalizing introductory launch pricing. The applicable fee and any package options will be provided clearly before you book a paid appointment. You will not be charged or committed to services without agreeing to the fee in advance.
Consulting and coaching are not currently psychological services and are generally not reimbursable through extended-health psychology benefits.
Frequently asked questions
Who can participate?
Work may involve parents alone, a teenager individually, parent and teenager together, or a flexible combination. The format is chosen according to the family’s goals, the teenager’s willingness, consent requirements, and what is most likely to be helpful.
Where do meetings happen?
Meetings are available online for families in Alberta and in-home in the Edmonton area, subject to availability and travel boundaries confirmed during the free consultation.
Is this counselling or psychotherapy?
No. Kindred currently provides non-clinical behaviour and relationship consulting, coaching, education, and family support. Services do not include psychotherapy, diagnosis, psychological assessment, custody evaluation, or crisis response. Counselling will be introduced only after appropriate professional registration, insurance, and supervision are in place.
How does privacy work when a teenager participates?
Before individual teen meetings begin, Chris discusses consent, parental involvement, the teenager’s reasonable privacy, what general information may be shared, and the circumstances in which safety information must be disclosed. These expectations are put in writing so nobody has to guess.
What information should I send through the website?
Only basic contact information and a brief description of what you are seeking. Please do not send diagnoses, trauma histories, detailed health information, court documents, or urgent safety concerns through the website form or ordinary email.
What happens before the first paid appointment?
You receive written information covering Kindred’s scope, fees, privacy, consent, communication boundaries, cancellation terms, record handling, and emergency limitations. Questions are welcome before you decide to proceed.
What if my family needs clinical or crisis support?
Chris will be transparent when a concern requires a regulated psychologist, physician, emergency service, or another specialist. Kindred is not a crisis service. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. In Canada, call or text 988 for suicide-crisis support.
Still wondering whether Kindred is right for your family?
The free consultation is designed for exactly that question. There is no pressure to book ongoing work.
